This is a good link for resources on SpaceMouse, Spaceball.

Also lots of other devices I didn't know about.

Belated thanks for the shout-out !

I will be sure to add information about the OrbShield to the site soon.

I am looking forward to the new OrbShield when they are finished.

I have not done much with Arduino, though I have tinkered with its knock-off cousin the Teensy.

I am willing to assist in helping get as many of the serial spacemice to work with the OS2 as possible.

My meager collection stands at the ready. :)

Nice, Teh! Makes my little collection of SpaceOrb/4000/5000/SpaceMouse/3003? look paltry in comparison.

The new board does work with the SpaceOrb 360, 4000FLX, 5000, and Magellan SpaceMouse... I don't think I got the 3003 (I think that's the number) working, but that's OK; it's the least interesting of them IMHO and it's probably not hard to add support at some point.

I have about 8 kits and I'm hoping for the first small run of 20 "complete" boards to be done this weekend. Once the store is tested, we'll set some of them free :)

I think you already have the hard work done. :)

If you have it working on the 4000FLX, then the 3003 and 2003 should be simple tweaks.

All of the data for movement and rotation should be identical. They just have different Firmware ID codes and # of supported buttons). Same with all of the Magellan models.

I have been working with the guys behind Spacenavd, the linux driver for spacemice, to get all the ID codes and button mapping done. The only ones that they do not support (yet) are the SpaceOrb360, the SpaceballAvenger (hard to find) and the Spaceball SpaceController. Those three models do not use an initialization string like the other Spaceballs and Magellans do.

Good luck with the kits!
