Re: New run of orbshields
So you would suggest the spaceorb and a keyboard for gaming? How can I hold the controller if I'm using the keyboard as well? Or do you mean you don't have a hand on each at the same time?
Again, gaming with spacemice not my strong suit. I was primarily commenting on ...

Re: New run of orbshields
It's a good question, particularly since cost-wise it's almost a wash. What I can't tell you is how (or if!) the 5000USB works with gaming--Tehrasha, any input?
Gaming with these devices is definitely not my strong suit, so file this heavily under AFAIK. I know of no wa...
You're a collector :)
Poke'mon Syndrome.... "Gotta chatch'em all!" :D
Do you find the 5000 more accurate/responsive than the 4000? That's the only thing I found that might be noticeable. The 4000 is supposedly smoother (probably less discrete) but the 5000 should be f...

Re: New run of orbshields
Is there any difference in the 5000/Magellan vs. the 4000? From what I've dug up, the 4000 uses pressure sensors like the SpaceOrb and the 5000 uses some sort of optical sensor design.
Yes, this agrees with my findings as well. For obvious reasons, I have never disassembled a...

Re: New run of orbshields
BTW, anyone know whether the Spaceball 5000A is worth getting over the Spaceball 4000? From what I dug up from an old forum post on the 3dconnexion boards: {snip} The difference between a 5000 and a 5000A is completely different and incompatible firmware between the two. The 6094 num...

Re: troubles communicating with SB 5000 ser in terminal
Anyways I'm getting ball data now. A few commands I've picked up: @ causes software reset, outputs the stauts and firmware MSSV starts sending data from ball P sets the refresh rate of ball, I've seen @r@r and 32 for values, not sure if there is one for Translation and one for Rotat...
I think I asked, but is anyone using this with IBM branded 4000FLX? Could they have used a proprietary init string? :(
AFAIK, no. Re: http://spacemice.wikidot.com/

I think you already have the hard work done. :) If you have it working on the 4000FLX, then the 3003 and 2003 should be simple tweaks. All of the data for movement and rotation should be identical. They just have different Firmware ID codes and # of supported buttons). Same with all of the Magellan ...

Re: http://spacemice.wikidot.com/

Belated thanks for the shout-out ! I will be sure to add information about the OrbShield to the site soon. I am looking forward to the new OrbShield when they are finished. I have not done much with Arduino, though I have tinkered with its knock-off cousin the Teensy. I am willing to assist in helpi...
