Re: New run of orbshields
AFAIK, the 5000A is simply a rebranded 4000. It would use the SpaceBall4000 (Spaceball) setting on the Orbotron9000 rather than the SpaceBall5000 (Magellan) setting.
That makes more sense than a 5000 w/ backwards compatible firmware :D Is there any difference in the 5000/M...

Re: New run of orbshields
VDX had some problems installing the driver on Win7, so I'm a little distressed about that as it should "just work"
What problems did he have? Vista/Win7/Win8 are a bit fussy about unsigned drivers so you have to reboot into the windows bootup menu and allow unsigned drivers t...

Re: New run of orbshields

"The USB shield uses a FTDI USB to UART chip. The RFduino has a bootloader which loads code over UART. The USB shield does not have an ARM programmer. If an ARM programmer is used to try and program the RFduino, it will erase the bootloader." Asked them about their USB shield. So it looks like there...

Re: New run of orbshields
doesn't seem to do USB directly (I was hoping it would do BT and USB), so I'm actually curious how they're going to program it from the Arduino environment
They require you to use a USB shield for programming. If you look at the board, it's fairly complicated so I'd bet it imp...

rfduino config files

FYI, I did ask the rfduino folks about those files...their reply:

==============

Those files have not been released yet. Once we do release them, they will not be part of the official Arduino release. It will be an add-on to the release.

Re: New run of orbshields
That's what I'm thinking too. But then there's the problem of how to remap them reliably so that a game could use them
When a bluetooth device shows up in Windows, doesn't it stay at the same "ID"? works on Arduino 1.5.x!

Ha! Did I mention I'm stubborn? :lol: The issue was staring me in the face all this time. Arduino 1.5 actually needs an upload.tool parameter or it'd use the BasicUploader which of course doesn't do anything any more so it face plants :? I submitted a bug in the arduino github project too...hopefull...

Re: New run of orbshields

So FYI, I did install Arduino 1.0.5 (did I ever say I'm stubborn about trying the latest? :D) Installed fine...basicjoystick and gaindemo work fine. Only difference in following directions is I didn't have a c:\users\arduino\libraries directory. Instead, I installed the libraries\orbotron folder int...

using Arduino 1.5.2beta

Did I ever tell you I'm not great at following directions? :? I installed the latest Arduino 1.5.2 nightly so I could try the Arduino Due (ARM based Arduino). They've apparently moved thing around quite a bit, so under hardware/arduino, there are now different architectures. To get the basicjoystick...

some miscellaneous arduino noob stuff

For folks who haven't done it before...the orbotron 9000 github page (https://github.com/thingotron/orbotron_9000) says install the arduino IDE, but doesn't specify that under Tools/Board in the menu, you have to specify ATMega2560; if you don't do this, it'll say "Serial1 not defined in scope". You...
